تنوّعت علوم الشريعة فكانت غزيرة بفنونها، عميقة بمعانيها، متنية بأصولها، غنية بمصادرها، وإنحاز لكل فن تمايز عظيم وفروق شتى، فَأبّها جوانبها وكساها بحلية فريدة.
ومن صور وجمال الشريعة أصول الفقه، هذا الفن الذي أمكن علوم الشريعة من الحضور القوي في عالم التطبيق، فكانت المتانة والأصالة التي أصبحت صنواً لأصول الفقه، والسبب أنّ كل فن أو شكل لا بدّ له من مُرتكزات فلا إجتهاد ولا تقدم من دون هذا العلم، لأنّه مرتكز الفقه، وإذا كان للأمة من سابقة علمية فحسبها علم أصول الفقه، الذي كان محطَّ إهتمام العلماء سابقاً ولاحقاً.
ثم إنّ هذا الفن أخذ كثيراً من نتاج العقل والدؤوب في التوصل إلى الحق والصواب بوضع قواعده وضوابطه فكانت المدارس ذات المنحى الخاص والعام، ممّا شكّل بجدارة معلمة حقيقة في علوم الشريعة.
ويعتبر شرح تنقيح الفصول إحدى حلقات هذا الفن، إذ ساهم الإمام "القرافي" بإيجاد حلول لكثير من المعضلات، إضافة إلى التمايز في هذا الكتاب من التحريرات الواسعة والمناقشات والترجيحات والتصويب والرد فنجده يذكر كلام الرازي الذي هو أصل هذا الكتاب إذ قام بإختصار كتابه المحصول ثم يعرّج على أقوال العلماء والمدارس الفقهية والفكرية والعقدية والأصولية ثم يخصِّص نفسه بالقول السديد مع الإشارة إلى نقل الإمام "القرافي" عن العلماء كان في غالبه بالتصرف، وخاصة في النقل عن الغزالي أو آخرين، فكانت كتابه حافلاً وواسعاً بالآراء في الفقه واللغة والسيرة والأصول والجدل وعلم الكلام ما أكسبه شهرة واسعة وإقبالاً وإهتماماً لدى الكثير.
ولأهمية هذا الكتاب اعتنى بتحقيقه الأستاذ "ناجي السويد" وكان عمله كالتالي: مقدمة وسيرة للمؤلف، إخراج الكتاب بحلّة جديدة منقحة ومبوّبة، تخريج الأحاديث الشريفة، شرح الكلمات المبهمة، تراجم الأعلام، وفهارس عامة.
