التكرير قسم من أقسام البلاغة, وهو من محاسن الفصاحة, فيه دلالة اللفظ على المعنى مردداً, لتأكيد غرض من أغراض الكلام, أو للمبالغة فيه, أو التنويه به, والإشارة إليه بالذكر وتقريره. وقد قيل: الكلام إذا تكرر تقرر, ومن مذاهب العرب التكرار إرادة التوكيد والإفهام, كما أن من مذاهبهم الاختصار, إرادة التخفيف والإيجاز. وهذا الكتاب على صغر حجمه استطاع أن يحدد ملامح التكرير وصوره في لغة العرب وفي البيان القرآني ودلالته الفنية, بالبحث والمناقشة وإعمال الفكر والرجوع الى العرف اللغوي والذوق الفني أحياناً. وقد تناول التكرار في القرآن من نواحي معينة, منها: تكرار الأنباء والقصص والحكمة في ذلك. تكرار الكلام من جنس واحد, كتكراره في (قل يا أيها الكافرون) وفي سورة الرحمن بقوله: (فبأي آلاء ربكما تكذبان). تكرار المعنى بلفظين مختلفين ومقاصد ذلك. ومعاني أخرى وراء التقرير في التكرير ستظل مناطاً للتأمل في العقل البشري, مما سما بالنظم القرآني الى مرتبة الإعجاز.
