أن يُكتب عن اليهود في بلد عربيّ و في زمن التشدّد، فهذا أمر يحتاج إلى الكثير من الجرأة من قبل الكاتب، بخاصة إذا كان قد أظهرهم على صورة مختلفة عن تلك الَتي اعتدنا عليها .
هذا ما فعله الروائي العراقي حسن فالح في روايته "قارئ الطين " التي تجرد فيها من الطائفية و تحدّث عن حقبة من تاريخ العراق ، حيث هجّر اليهود من أراضيهم و بيوتهم، بسبب العنف الذي تعرضوا له من إخوانهم العراقيين آنذاك ، في حادثة الفرهود عام 1941، والتي أسهمت في هجرتهم جميعا تاركين بيوتهم بأبخس الاثمان ، فاستغل البعض هذه الظروف كي يجني منها الثروات .
تدور أحداث الرواية بين بغداد وجنوب العراق، تحكي قصة بطلين في زمنين مختلفين أحدهما يهودي من زمن الحداثة وآخر بعده بستين عاماً تقريباً، هارب من مدينته بسبب حكم عليه بسبب سياسي، بحبكة متقنة من الكاتب، جعل التواصل متاحا عبر مذكرات يتركها الأوّل قبل هجرته فتلعب الصدفة دورها بأن يقطن الآخر بيت ذلك المهاجر ويقرأ ما سطر فيها.
