صدر كتاب "ملحمة دجلة والفرات" عن دار "لامارتان" الفرنسية في الشهر الثاني من عام 1999، وما يزال منذ صدوره حتى اليوم، يثير فضول القراء، والصحافيين والدارسين، إذ كتبت عنه صحف ومجلات عربية وفرنسية، حتى أن بعض النقاد الفرنسيين عدّه من أهم الكتب التي تناولت حضارة بلاد الرافدين العريقة التي كانت فتحاً للتاريخ نهضت به المدن السومرية، والآكادبية، والبابلية، والآشورية، وطبعها قادة كبار بطابعهم المتميز، مثل الملك جلجامش، وسرجون الآكادي، وحمورابي، وآشور بانيبال، ولاشك أن قراءة الكتاب تقف على سرّ انجذاب إليه على نحو أفضل. لذا كان لابد من ترجمته إلى العربية ليقرئه القارئ العربي على هذا الإبداع الفكري، أو بالأحرى وصله بأصله، نظراً إلى أن مؤلفه الدكتور أفرام عيسى يوسف من أصل عراقي.
هذا وان ما سيشد القارئ إلى هذه الملحمة ذاك الأسلوب الذي مزج من خلاله الكاتب بين أدب الرحلات والسيرة الذاتية والمذكرات في آن واحد مما منح الملحمة تركيباً خاصاً يميزها، يلمح القارئ ملحمة بلاد الرافدين بعيني كاتبها، يراها بعيدة وقريب غامضة وأليفة، وما كانت رؤيته لها لتداني رؤية الغربيين الذين يبحثون عن "شرقهم" مستندين دوماً على الكتاب المقدس، والإغريق، والرومان، لأن زرقة سماواتهم، كما يقول الكاتب في مطلع الفصل الأخير من كتابه، لا تخصه، وهو إنما يتأمل بلاد الرافدين بعيني الابن، والوريث الشرعي.
هذا الكتاب من أهم الكتب التي تناولت حضارة بلاد الرافدين العريقة التي كانت فتحاً للتاريخ نهضت به المدن السومرية، والآكادية، والبابلية، والآشورية، وطبعها قادة كبار بطابعهم المميز، مثل الملك جلجامش، وسرجون الآكادي، وحمورابي، وآشور بانيبال. والأمر المميز في هذا الكتاب هو اللغة النابضة الأدنى إلى المناجاة بين روح الكاتب، وروح بلاد الرافدين الضاربة جذورها في أعماقه. إن ملحمة دجلة والفرات كتابة بلون جديد يرفد ألوان الأدب وأجناسه، وقد يعطي لفعل القراءة دفعاً قوياً يولد التفاعل الأمثل بين النصوص.
