يقدّم هذا الكتاب تعريفاً بفضائل شعبان وآدابه وضرورة الإتيان بها لفوائدها الجليلة. وفيه ليلة النصف من شعبان التي تماثل في فضلها ليلة القدر. وقد أراد الله سبحانه وتعالى لهذا الشهر أن يتميّز بالعبادة والتسبيح وأن ترتفع فيه همم العباد إلى نيل الدرجات والتحرّر من علائق الدنيا وتحرّر قلوبهم مما يكدّر صفوها.
وفي هذا الكتاب الذي يتألف من أحاديث يومية كانت تقدم عبر (إذاعة النور) أراد الشيخ حسين كوراني أن يقف المسلمون على فضائل هذا الشهر، وقد تتبع فيما قدمه منهج كبار العلماء، خصوصاً الصدوق والمفيد والطوسي. وقد بيّن المؤلف فضيلة شعبان وكيفية تعامل العلماء مع هذا الشهر. وأورد الروايات والنصوص التي تدلّ على أن شهر شعبان أفضل من شهر رجب وبيّن حكم وصل شعبان بشهر رمضان، وأدعية شعبان التي يجب الوقوف عليها والتدبّر فيها. كما أورد الأحاديث التي تحثّ على صوم يومين من شعبان. كما عرض بالتفصيل لمولد الإمام الحسين، والجرعة، وحديث الملك فطرس وصلاة الليلة الرابعة. وقد أورد في الكتاب أهم الأعمال العامة التي ينبغي الاهتمام بها في شهر شعبان وهي الأعمال التي لم يحدّد لها وقت خاص بل يمكن أن تؤتى في أي وقت من شعبان.
كما تطرّق المؤلف إلى الحديث عن الإمام المنتظر، وظروف ولادته والغيبة الصغرى والكبرى، وبحث في إشكالية العمر الطويل مبيناً أن ذلك ليس مستحيلاً، كما أورد الأدعية المأثورة وذكر الأعمال المستحبّة التي تقرّب العبد إلى الله في هذا الشهر الفضيل.
