Book Description
"جنيفر" شابة خجولة ومنطوية على نفسها تنتقل من بلدتها الأصلية إلى مدينة أخرى بعد تخرجها في الجامعة لتعمل أمينة مكتبة البلدية. لم يسبق للشابة أن أقامت علاقات عاطفية مع الجنس الآخر بسبب انطوائها. بعد إلحاح توافق على مصاحبة زميلتها، وأصدقائها في العمل إلى ملهى ليلي شهير بأن جميع من يؤدون العرض الراقص به من الرجال. وفي كل ليلة يختار الراقص النجم إحدى المشاهدات ليمنحها قبلة أمام الجمهور. ويشاء حظ "جنيفر" أن يختارها لنيل تلك الجائزة الغريبة، وتجد نفسها عاجزة عن التصرف، وقد تملكها الرعب مما وجدت نفسها فيه. يجدها "فيليب"-نجم العرض الراقص-تختلف عن كل الفتيات اللاتي عرفهن ويفكر فيها باستمرار إلى أن يلتقي بها مصادفة في حملة الدعاية للتبرع للمكتبة. وترفض الفتاة الاستجابة إلى مغازلة الشاب فيصر على مطاردتها.
ثم تحدث حادثة كادت تودي بحياة البطلة وينقذها. ويتكشف كل منهما أنه يخفي عن كل الناس سراً خاصاً به.
