قبل دخولها عالم الحرية والعري، كانت (نورا) تعيش عالم التستر والمبادئ والأخلاق، الآن أصبحت أنثى كاملة تتوق للجرأة والإنطلاق، حدث هذا، بعد أن كشف القناع عن أعمال والديها المشبوهة في عالم الأموال، عاشت في ثراء فاحش، ولم تكن تدري أنها سوف تدفع ثمنه لوحدها، وما زاد الأمر سوءاً زواجها من سعد الذين بيعت له كصفقة رابحة، في بداية المشوار وجدت فيه رجُلاً نزيهاً يسعى للعيش بأمان وإستقرار، غمرها حباً، وهدايا ثمينة، فظنت أنه ملجئها وحبها المستدام، حتى اليوم الذي زيج فيه الستار عن وجهه الحقيقي، كان رجلاً مُعنفاً، أسقط جنينها، إنتقاماً لرجولته التي شعر أنها ستسحقها، كان جوعه إليها كأنثى، أكثر من كونها إنسانة من لحم ودم...
كل هذه الأحداث عاشتها نورا؛ تحولت معها حياتها ومن فتاة حالمة إلى امرأة مختلفة، ولكنها ما لبثت أن عادت إليها الحياة من جديد، عندما عرفت أن الحب الحقيقي، حب الله تعالى، هو الطريق الوحيد للخلاص.
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ: "كابر سليمان ولم يقبل بتطليقي، لم يكن قوياً كما يُظهر للعلن، مهزوماً ومكسوراً ومشوشاً في باطنه، استسلمَ بعد أيام، خشي الفضيحة بعد أن هددته بلجوئي إلى القضاء لخلعه فآثر حفظ ماء وجهه، آلمني كثيراً إنفصالي عنه بهذه الطريقة، بكيت ليلة استلمت ورقة طلاقي منه، لكن الله تعالى جبر لي كُسري وألبسني برداءٍ جديد.
حاول كسري بخبر زواجه بعد أشهر، كأنه يبرر قوته المطلقة وعدم إهتمامه بفقدي بعد فقد أمه، كيف أصدق ووحدي أعلم بأنه لن يستطيع تخطي أزماته العاطفية بسهولة... فما أكترث مُطلقاً بخبر زواجه، ليس لحريتي ثمن فأخيراً دفعت ثمنها وتجررتُ من قيود عبودتي بعد بيعةٍ بخسة كانت بفعل والدي العزيز الذي قبض ثمني نقداً...".
