"سهرت الليالي أناجي القمر، يطيب مع البدر أنس السمرْ، أحاوره وهو يرنو لصوتي كشجو الكمان ولعن الوتر، يقول أجدْت الغناء فزيدي، بألحان صوتك هذي الدررْ، وغني بعيد الأحبة لحناً ينادي حبيباً جفى أو هجرْ، وعيد الأحبّة يوم يمر سريعاً سريعاً كلمح البصر، فلا تتركي فرحة العيد تمضي ويبقى السهاد ويبقى الضجر، فسيري إليه وغني له أناشيد لحن الوفاء الأغرّ، ترين الحبيب جثا راكعاً، ومستغفراً عن فؤاد غدر، فقولي أحبك من كل قلبي، تعالى إلي... فقلبي غفر، سيسعد بالحب عبر الزمان، حبيبان عاشا هوى فانتصرْ".
برهافة القابض على زئبقية الحرف، تصطاد "زينب كريم" جواهر كلماتها متلألئة يانعة على وقع كواكب أفكارها كمن يُحيل ليل الصحارى إلى ربيع غير متناهي الابتسامات، باحثة هي عن أفق عين لا تنبلج إطلالتها إلا على ضوء متوتر الشعاع، له من أسرار الوجدان همسات انكسار بمقدار ماله صهوات انتصار.
في هذا الديوان تكتب "زينب" معاناة جيل كامل في وطنها، جيل الحرب الذي كتب عليه أن يعيش مآسي الحرب، وويلاتها ونتائجها. جيل صقلته التجربة بعد أن عايش الإهمال وعانى الأهوال... مرة تناجي الوطن وتشكو المآسي والمحن، وتارة تخاطب المغترب لتذكره بأرضه الحبيبة ووطنه الأم، وأخرى تثني على القادم، مقدسة رسالته ونضاله وجهاده، ومل تنسى في زحمة الأحداث الخطيرة، بعضاً من الجوانب المنيرة... جعلت صحة للأم... ومثلها للمعلم... وبعضاً للحبيب... وشيئاً للوجدانيات والرومانسيات...
