يشتمل هذا الكتاب على أربعة أبحاث في المعجمية العربية كنت قد نشرت أحدها في مجلة المجمع العلمي العراقي، ونشرت اثنين منها في مجلة آداب الرافدين التي تصدي عن كلية الآداب في جامعة الموصل، وكان ذلك ما بين عامي 2006 و 2008م، أما الرابع فهو بحث غير منشور كنت قد ألقيته في مؤتمر المعجمية العربية الذي نظمته كلية الآداب جامعة آل البيت في القطر الأردني الشقيق عام 2010م.
وتحقيقاً لإتمام الفائدة من هذه الأبحاث، ومساهمة منا في خدمة التراث المعجمي العربي؛ ولكي لا تبقى هذه الأحداث حبيسة في مكان لن يتسنى لكثير من الباحثين وطلاب العلم والمعنيين بالمعجمية العربية الوصول إليها؛ آثرت أن أجمعها في هذا الكتاب المتواضع لتكون بين أيدي الباحثين وعشاق العربية ليفيدوا منها.
وقد حملت هذه الأبحاث العناوين التالية:
البحث الأول: نقد الفيروز آبادي للجوهري إحصاء وتحليل.
البحث الثاني: كلام العامة في المعجمات العربية جمهرة اللغة نموذجاً.
البحث الثالث: خليل بن أيبك الصفدي وصحاح الجوهري.
البحث الرابع: المعجمية العربية بين منهجي الإحاطة والإنتقاء.
