"كتاب الدمى" تجربة شعرية رائدة يتحاور عبرها الفن التشكيلي مع الكلمة الشعرية، ليلتقيان في رؤية كونية مقدسة ميزت هذا الفن الرفيع عن غيره من تجارب.
وفي هذا العمل تجسيد حي لعلاقة الشعر والرسم معاً، أي عندما يكون الشعر صامت والرسم صامت. وكذا هو حال مروان قصاب باشي وعيسى علاونة في هذه التحفة الأدبية التي كانت وليدة اللحظات والساعات في ليلة باردة من ليالي ألمانيا حيث التقيا؛ وتحادثا إلى أن قارب الليل على النهاية وبدأت تباشير الفجر تلوح من النافذة حينما توقفا عن الكلام المباح. يقول "عيسى علاونه" عن تجربته هذه "... كلما أتصفح هذه الرسوم تعود بي ذكرى عزيزة على نفسي رحبة ريانة وآمنة على قلبي، فسعيت إلى أن تخرج مع قصائد ترافقها في كتاب... انه "كتاب الدمى" (...)". وفيه نقرأ: "يلوح الفرات على بؤبؤ العين/ يهبط في آية طافحة/ بلون الفراشة/ والشجن المتخفي/ ليكمل دورته في التباهي/ في كتاب الدوار/ وراء رميم المواجع/ يفتح باباً لتبرق وياء/ برهة للزمان المعلق/ بين القصيد/ وجمرة ماء (...) فصول الكتاب/ لهذا الزمان المعلق/ بين الدخان/ وجمرة ماء".
محتويات الكتاب: مقدمة بقلم الشاعر "فؤاد رفقة"، "خواطر ليلة مع مروان"، بقلم "عيسى علاونة" يلي ذلك ستة عشر قصيدة جاءت بعناوين مختلفة ونذكر منها: "دمى"، "ستون"، "عزباء"، "عناق"، "فراق"، "مروان"، "يدان"، "ما قاله النهر"... الخ.
