الدين الإسلامي الذي نعمت به الأمم في إرساء أحسن القواعد والعلاقات الإنسانية بين شعوب الأرض جميعاً، يتعرض اليوم لهجمة شرسة تمارس بحقه من قبل أعداء الأمة، ومن بعض أبناء المسلمين الذين يقومون بأعمال تخريبية لا تمت للإسلام والمسلمين بأي صلة، مما دفعت بأعداء الإسلام إلى إلصاق التهم الباطلة به، ومنها أن الإسلام دين الإرهاب.
هذا ولما كانت بلاد المسلمين قد رزحت تحت تأثير الاستعمار والظلم زمناً طويلاً فإن أي عمل من أعمال المقاومة المشروعة من قبل أبناء المسلمين للدفاع عن أوطانهم وتحرير بلادهم أصبح يعد إرهاباً من وجهة نظر أعداء الإسلام والمسلمين.
لذا جاءت هذه الدراسة لتوضيح المفاهيم والمصطلحات على حقيقتها بتأصيلها الشرعي، ولتميط اللثام عن كثير من الترهات والمزاعم الباطلة والموهومة، فوضحت أن الإسلام دين التسامح والوسطية ودين الدفاع الشرعي عن أعراض المسلمين وممتلكاتهم وقيمهم ومبادئهم، لا دين الإرهاب والغلظة والعنف والجبروت، كما يحلو للمتربصين بالإسلام أن ينعتوه بها.
