Book Description
"كعب بن زهير" أحد فحول الشعراء المخضرمين، عدَّه ابن سلاَّم من شعراء الطبقة الثانية ووضعه قبل الحُطيئة.
كان في مقتبل العمر عند ظهور الدعوة الإسلامية، شاب مَعْتَدٌ بنفسه وبشاعريته، فخور بقومه وأهله، وخاصة والده زهير بن أبي سلمى، الذي ملأ صيته البوادي، وشغل الوبر والحضر، وتعنت بحولياته الركان.
لم يتقبل كعب الدين الجديد بسهولة، لا بل ناصبه العداء، حتى إذا ما أعلن أخوة بجيرٌ إسلامه، وعلم كعب بخبره، أرسل إليه أبياته الشهيرة يسخر بها منه ويحثه فيها على ترك الإسلام والعودة عنه إلى دينه القديم، والتي بسببها أهدر الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم دمه.
وظل كعب على وثنيته حتى فُتحت مكة، وانصرف الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم من الطائف، فكتب إليه أخوه بجير أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قتل كل من آذاء من الشعراء المشركين إلا من أعلن إسلامه، ودعاه أن يقدم على رسول الله تائباً، وكان أن شرح الله عزّ وجلّ صدره للإسلام، فقدم المدينة وبايع الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم أعلن إسلامه.
منشداً بين يديه مدحته الشهيرة الخالدة، فكساه النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم برْدته، التي اكتسى بها كعب حُلةَ مجدٍ لا تُبلى عر مَرِّ العصور، ولُقِّبت قصيدته "بالبردة"، كما عُرفت القصائد التي عارضتها ونهجت نهجاً "بنهج البردة".
وهكذا حسن إسلام كعب، فاتخذ من الرسول جَارَاً أو ملاذاً، كما أصبح من الصحابة الأبرار، فصفت نفسه، وأخذ يستشعر معاني الإسلام الروحية، وما دعا إليه من الخلق الكريم، بعد ما كنا نراه دائماً في شعره الجاهلي مفاخراً متوعداً مهدداً، في نفسه شر كثير، كما يدل عليه ديوانه وتأخره في إسلامه.
وبعد، يضع هذا الكتاب بين يدي القارئ حياه كعب وشعره، ليستشعر فيهما الروح الإسلامية التي غيرّت كعباً وحوّلته إلى إنسان فيه كثير من الحكمة والصبر والتلطّف.
