يشكل المرجع سلطة قاهرة تطوّع الجسد وتمارس عليه سلطتها بغية مراقبته وإخضاعه، فتحوّله إلى ساحة صراع وتوهمه بأنه حرّ لكنّها في العمق تسليه حرّيته وتجعله مطيعاً ونافعاً.
لكنّ الجسد في شعر محمود درويش لا يبدو مستلباً ولا مطيعاً بل طرفاً في صراع دم، ليس يعنينا كثيراً مآل الصّراع لكنّ الذي يعنينا هو طرفا الصرّاع، أوّلاً المؤسّسة (الدّين، الدّولة، التراث، الأخلاق، اللغة) ومن ورائها بنى الفكر الفكر التّقليدي وثانياً الجسد الواعي بقدرته على التحرّر.
ينتهي الجسد غالباً ضحيّة متوتّرة مقهورة مقموعة عاجزة منحرفة قلقة متوجّسة تعاني من كلّ مظاهر العنف والإقصاء والإحصاء والنّفي والسّجن والتّعذيب والأبعاد والألم والإلغاء والمحو والتهديد بمحو الهوية والخصوصيّة والجوهر والوجود نفسه.
لكن ذلك لا يخفي جسداً آخر هو الجسد الرّافض الثائر الحرّ المحرّر الخارج المقاوم الذي يشهر في وجه العدم ضوءه العميق وأحلامه، وتغدو السّلطة بكلّ أشكالها وبكلّ ما يحرّكها ويتحكم فيها من بنى المقدّس "أرضاً" قابلة "للتّدنيس الشّعري".
وهنا يتّخذ الجسد داخل مجالات الممنوع مكانة هامة بوصفه هادماً ورافضاً وحراً.
