لقدْ عرفت القصيدةُ الحديثةُ تطوّراً في بنائِها وتشكيلِ ألفاظِها ومعانيها، وتقنياتٍ فنّيّةً في صورِها وفضائِها جعلَ المتلقّي مطالباً كدارسٍ ومتذوقٍ بالتّفاعلِ معها، وإستثمارِ قدراتِهِ في الكشفِ عنْ مكنوناتِها الرّمزيّةِ وتأطيراتِها الفنّيّةِ العاليةِ، ويعدُّ الرّمزُ من أكثرِ الملامحِ بروزاً وتبدياً كأساسٍ إرتكازيٍّ للشّعراء المعاصرينَ يتقمّصونَهُ في قصائدِهم ويطلّونَ من خلالِهِ، وذلكَ يجعلِ اللغةِ المألوفةِ الّتي تضيقُ بنقلِ التّجربةِ لغةً جديدةً مفعمةً بالخيالِ والصّورِ والعلاقاتِ والتّراكيبِ الإنزياحيّةِ؛ لتفضيّ جميعُها إلى تأديةِ دلالاتٍ وظيفيّةٍ للرّؤى والتّجاربِ والأفكارِ والمضامينِ الخاصّةِ بناقلٍ الرّمزِ أو صانِعِهِ من العدمِ.
جاءت هذه الدراسةُ لإستجلاء الرّموز المحوريّةِ الّتي خصّها درويشٌ في شعرِهِ؛ لتكونَ قياديّةٌ في حملةِ شعرِهِ ومسيرة تجربِتِهِ المناهضةِ للإحتلالِ الغاشمِ الّذي عاثَ في فلسطينَ قتلاً ودماراً وتشريداً وسلباً للهويّةِ، فأصدرَ على مدارِ عقودٍ مجموعاتِه الشّعريّةَ الّتي سجّلَ فيها أحداثاً لحقبٍ في تاريخِ الشّعبِ الفلسطينيّ، ونقلَ من خلالِها للعالمِ قضيّةَ وطنِهِ الّتي لم تزلْ الهمّ القوميّ والعربيّ الّذي يؤرّقُ الجميعَ.
وقدْ صوّرَتْ نصوصُ درويشٍ الشعريّةُ مأساةً شعبِهِ على الأرضِ، وقدّمتُ للعالمِ وجهَ الحقيقةِ المغلّفَ بالخداعِ والزّيفِ، فمعَ تطوّرِ رؤيتهِ الشعريّةِ لجأَ إلى تقنياتٍ فنّيّةٍ عاليةٍ لمواكبةٍ مستوى الثّقافةِ المتعاليةِ في العالمِ كلّ يوم ومنْ تلكَ التقنياتِ الرّموزُ المستدعاةُ من مخيّلتِهِ الشّعريّةِ والمحمّلةُ بدلالاتٍ مكثّفةٍ.
