إن قضية الفكر قضية حية منذ أ، وجدت على الأرض وستظل هكذا إلى أن يرث الله الأرض ومن عليها... فالله تعالى حين خلق الإنسان منحه الفكر ليكون دليل وجوده، وحين منحه الفكر أراده حياً متحركاً فما الجدوى منه إذا كان معطلاً، ومن خلف حركة الفكر تتوالد المشكلات لتنمو وتترعرع في ثياب قضايا تمدّ الفكر بالحركة، وتستمد منه الحياة والخلود... والأدب هو أكبر محاصيل الفكر، وقضايا الفكر إنما تناقش في ساحة الأدب، والأدب خلاصة التعبد الصادق الخالص عن الإحساسات والمشاعر تعبيراً يختلف بدرجات متفاوتة ومتباينة بقدر ما تضفي الإلهامات على الإحساسات والمشاعر من حركة وإيقاع.
وقضايا الفكر كثيرة متشعبة، هي بمثابة معارك مستعرة الأوار، فالعامية والفصحى والشعر الحرّ والموزون، والأدب الواقعي والمثالي والرمز، هذا وغيره بعض قضايا الفكر، يجب أن تناقش حرة مجردة من الهوى والتعصب.
والكاتب "وديع فلسطين" مؤلف هذا الكتاب، أديب بطبعه، وليست حرفة الأدب هي التي تستهويه، بل عقيدة الأدب الأصلية في أعماقه هي التي تحفز إلى الإسهام بقلمه في ميدان الأدب. والأستاذ الكاتب "وديع فلسطين"، يمتاز كأديب مهم... إنه الخلق المتين الذي أن يعيش مع الأديب دائماتً، وقد جمع مع أصالته في الأدب قوة في الخلق.
يرى الكاتب الأديب أن الأدب ميدان لمعارك ومعامع، ولكن يجب أن تظل سليمة العاقبة تفضي في ختام الأمر إلى رفع الأدب ودفعه، وهناك -في رأي وديع فلسطين- اعتبار ينبغي أن يعلو على كل اعتبار سواه هو الحرص في معارك الأدب على حرية الفكر والرأي والذود عنها. إن كانت هناك صلة عميقة بين حملة الأقلام، فهي صلة سُداها تلك الحرية ولحمتها الإخلاص في إبداء الرأي. إن الأستاذ الأديب ناقش جل قضايا الفكر في بحثه هذا، ولكنها مناقشة اتسمت بالنزاهة في التفكير والإنصاف في التعبير، فجاءت مناقشة حرة صيغت بالجلال والوقار.
