وقد تضمن هذا المجموع الموضوعات التالية: 1-شعر أبي الأسود: برواية السكري أبي سعيد وشرحه، 2-تخريج هذا الشعر في المصادر والمراجع العربية، 3-شعر أبي الأسود: برواية ابن جني وشرحه، 4-المستدرك على شعر أبي الأسود، 5-الملاحق، وهي ثلاثة: أ-ما بقي من كتاب الأصمعي المفقود الذي يضمُّ شعر أبي الأسود، ب-ما بقي من كتاب المدائني المفقود في أخبار أبي الأسود، ج-ما روي عن أبي عبيدة مما نظن أنه من كتابه "الشعر والشعراء" ممّا يخص أبا الأسود.
