نعثر في هذا الكتاب على وصفات طعام هي مختارات شهية من المطبخ الشامي (سورية، لبنان، فلسطين، الأردن) البلدان التي تتشابه أطباقها وتختلف تسمياتها، ولكنها في الأساس نفس الشيء، لذلك يحتوي هذا الكتاب على طرائق ممتازة لصنع الكبة ومحشي ورق عنب والفطائر والشوربات والمقبلات والمازات وصناعة الأجبان واللبن والخبز العربي والحلويات والمشروبات بأنواعها، وكل ما يخص المطبخ الشرقي ويختصر ثقافة هذه المنطقة منذ آلاف السنين وإلى اليوم ذلك أن تلك الأطباق (الوصفات) تطورت عبر التشكيلة العريضة من الأطعمة المتوفرة والطبيعة المختلفة للشعوب في المدن والمناطق الصحراوية النائية، وإجمالاً لقد أنتج هذا مطبخاً يختصر الشعب العربي، وتبنته شعوب أخرى في المنطقة وهو بدوره تبنى أطباقاً من المناطق المجاورة وكانت النتيجة نكهات متقاربة ولذيذة.
