سَعىَ مؤلف هذا الكتاب بكل قوة ووضوح، ودون أدنى تنازل، إلى إبادة أوثان الحضارة الغربية الحديثة، وإلى الإشادة بأصالة وسموّ الشرائع الإلهية والمبادئ العرفانية الشرقية.
أوثان الحداثة تتمثل في اللهفة وراء التطوّر المادي المبتور عن كلّ ترقّ روحي، وفي تأليه الفكر المقطوع عن الوحي الربّانيّ، وفي متاهات التكديس والتكاثر للتقنيات والعلوم المادّية بدون إعتبار لأصولها العُلوية، وفي أخلاقيات سطحية لعواطف رجْرَاجة فقدت أصولها العرفانية، كلّ ذلك في إطار حضارة في منتهى الهشاشة، تُحدِق بها الأخطار التي تُنشئها بنفسها كلّما إزداد تطوّرها، ولا نجاة للغرب من دوّامة الخواء الروحي الذي يهوى به في هاوية وخيمة، إلاّ بالإقتراب من التعاليم الربّانية التي لا تزال حيّة في الشرق.
ويقرّر الشيخ أنّ ذلك التقارب تعترضه عوائق صعبة، لكن لا بُدّ من تجاوزها إن أراد الغرب النجاة من مصير متعفن خطير والعودة إلى حضارة متوازنة، وفضل الشيخ ما ينبغي تجنّبه في مسار تقييم وتنقيح المفاهيم، وتلاقح الغرب مع الشرق، حتّى تنشا الظروف اللازمة لضمان الوفاق والإنسجام والسلام.
