يعالج الكتاب (الإعلان السياسي والدعاية الإنتخابية) لمؤلفه الدكتور "كريم مشط الموسوي" مشكلة ذات بعد سياسي في العراق الحديث (2005) وتتركز حول أهمية الحملات الإعلانية - التي أصبحت توظف في مجال السياسة - لخدمة المرشح السياسي، وكيف يمكن للحملات الإعلانية التأثير على الناخبين في التصويت لصالحه.
واستناداً إلى المعطيات والحقائق التي أفرزتها الحملات الإعلانية، عمد مؤلف الكتاب إلى وضع مجموعة من التساؤلات لتحديد مسار البحث في هذا الموضوع، إضافة إلى تحديد المجالين (المكاني والزماني) فكانت صحف البيان والإتحاد والمشرق هي مكان الدراسة، وللمدة من 13/11/2005 ولغاية 13/12/2005، والتي حددت بـ (78) عدداً، تم مسحها مسحا شاملا، بواقع (560) إعلاناً وزعت على أربع حملات إعلانية للصحف الثلاثة، موضوع المقارنة، لأجل الوصول إلى معرفة دقيقة للمنهج المعتمد في الصحافة العراقية، قياسا بالثوابت من المعايير العالمية، وبناء على ذلك وقع اختيار الكاتب على الصحف التي تمثل القوائم الثلاثة الأولى الفائزة في إنتخابات مجلس النواب العراقي الدائم، وهي صحيفة البيان التي تمثل قائمة الإئتلاف العراقي الموحد وصحيفة الإتحاد التي تمثل قائمة التحالف الكردستاني، وصحيفة المشرق التي تمثل قائمة جبهة التوافق العراقية.
