منذ انطلاقة السينما، حضر إلى جانبها العنوان الدعائي بمعناه العام، والسياسي بمعناه الخاص، واستمر جنباً إلى جنب على طريق معبّد حيناً ومتعرج أحياناً، وبهذا المعنى يكون هناك علاقة بين السينما والإعلام، وأخرى بين المرسل والمرسل إليه ... وعليه، وبشيء من الواقعية، يقول مؤلف الكتاب "عبد الحليم حمود" عن كتابه هذا "إن متن الكتاب لا يهدف إلى تقديم السينما كمعمل للمؤامرات والدس، بقدر ما نريد إعلام القارىء ببعض كواليس هذا العالم، وهي مهمة اشتغل عليها الكثير من الكتّاب والأكاديميين، كما صناع السينما والأفلام الوثائقية".
وفي هذا الإطار يستعرض المؤلف بدايات السينما منذ أول مخترع لها "لويس لوميير" مخترع السينما مع أخيه، وكيف تطورت على يد "شارل باتيه" رجل صناعة الفوتغرافيا وكيف تمت عمليات افتتاح وكالات أجنبية لتسويق صناعة السينما في بلدان مختلفة من أنحاء العالم، وكيف تلقفها الجمهور والعائدات المالية الضخمة لشركات الأفلام، مروراً بتشييد استديوهات الإنتاج السينمائي في هوليود، وأنواع الأفلام المنتجة بما فيها افلام الصور المتحركة، ثم استخدام هذا الفن في الدعاية للحرب "لماذا يحارب الأميركيون" ، ودور اليهود في صناعة السينما وتأثيرهم في الرأي العام العالمي، مروراً بسينما كل مرحلة وأهدافها، ثم عرض لكتاب صدر في ماساشوس سنة 2001 بعنوان "صورة العرب الأشرار في السينما، كيف تشوه هوليوود صورة شعب بأكمله" للأستاذ جاك شاهين اللبناني الأصل، بالإعتماد على مراجعات وأبحاث شملت أكثر من ألف فيلم أميركي خلال القرن الماضي، وفي سياق الكتاب أيضاً عرض لقضايا السينما العربية ولا سيما المصرية وماذا كتب النقاد العرب في هذا المجال باعتبارها أداة من أدوات التوجيه والتأثير في الرأي العام (العدوان الثلاثي عام 1956) وإبراز دور المقاومة والجيش في إجلاء قوات العدوان ... وكذلك فعل المؤلف بالنسبة للسينما العراقية والمغربية وغيرها من دول العالم كروسيا والصين وكيف انعكست أزمات تلك الدول في الفن السابع.
