الحب هبة الله، بل هو كما قال الرافعي: "حرفان كونت الدنيا لأجلهما، كم ضمنا من معان ذات أنباء!" وشاءت الأقدار أن يكون "قيس بن الملوح" أنموذج المحب المخلص الوفي، العفيف، المحروم، فهو قد استعذب الحرمان، ورأى أن الألم مصدر وحيه الشعري، فباح بخلجات النفس، واقتنع بالنظرة العجلى، واللفتة الخاطفة وضحى بكل غال من أجل الحب وحده!
وبين يدك ديوان قيس بن الملوح كاملاً حيث قسم المحقق الديوان على قسمين: القسم الأول: المقدمة وفيها فصلان: الأول: ليلى والمجنون في الأدبين العربي والعالمي. الثاني: بهجة الناظر في أخبار مجنون بني عامر". وهو المهذب من رسالة "نزهة المسامر في أخبار مجنون بني عامر" لابن المبرد الحنبلي ت(909هـ). وقد حذفت أسانيدها، اختصاراً، وابقيت عيون الأشعار فيها، ويجد المتأمل في هذه "الرسالة" كثرة الاختلافات في رواية الأشعار!، بحيث إن للبيت الواحد غير رواية. القسم الثاني: الديوان. ضم الديوان شعر المجنون قيس بن الملوح، وما نسب إليه وهو كثير.
