صاحب هذا الديوان الذي نقلب صفحاته هو شاعر عذري أحب حباً عفيفاً طاهراً، فحالت العادات القبلية دون زواجه بمن أحب، فترك لنا شعراً هو نبض قلب عاشق أحب حتى الجنون، فاستحق عن جدارة لقب "مجنون ليلى". فخلد شعره قصته وخلد اسم حبيبته ليلى، وأصبح مرادفاً لكل حبيبته حتى قيل: "كل يغني على ليلاه". ويحوي هذا الديوان قصائد فيها أرق وأجمل ما قيل في الحب والعشق والغرام. أتت هذه القصائد مضبوطة بالشكل اضافة الى شرح مفرداتها مع الوقوف على شخصية مجنون ليلى للتعرف عليها.
