يكون كل فصل في هذا الكتاب دراسة متكاملة ومستقلة يمكن قراءتها دون العودة إلى باقي الفصول، وتتكون كل دراسة منها من جزئين رئيسين، الأول منهما بحث نظري مكتبي يؤدي إلى عدد من الفرضيات وينتهي بها، والثاني بحث ميداني يدرس عينات من نوع من أنواع الفلكلور الفلسطيني بطريقة تلقي الضوء على مدى صحة الفرضيات المطروحة في نهاية الجزء الأول، وبهذا فغن كل فصل من هذه الفصول العشرة يعرّف القارئ بجزء من حقل الفلكلور وجزء من مادة الفلكلور، وبما أن هذه الفصول لا تقتصر على تجميع وتبويب مواد الفلكلور بل تتعداها إلى التحليل النظري لهذه المواد، وبما أن الفلكلور ليس له نظرياته الخاصة به بل يلجأ إلى المدارس النظرية من العلوم المجاورة كعلم الإجتماع وعلم النفس وعلم الإنسان، فإنه من السهل على العاملين في هذه الحقول قراءة مواد هذا الكتاب وإستعمال أجزاء منها كقراءات مرافقة لبعض النقاشات النظرية في حقولهم.
كذلك فإن عدم لجوء المؤلف إلى إستعمال المصطلحات الفنية المختصة وعدم الإكثار من الإشارات إلى المصادر والنظريات المجهولة، بالإضافة عينات المواد الفلكلورية المثبتة فيه من أمثال وأغان ونكات واساطير وقصص خرافية، كل ذلك ييسر للقارئ العادي الذي ليس لديه إلمام بنظريات العلوم الإجتماعية مطالعة هذا الكتاب وتذوق محتوياته.
