Book Description
لا تنحصر أهمية سيرة حياة محمد شرارة فيما كتب في الأدب والنقد والشعر، وإنما هي كذلك جزء من المعاناة نفسها التي كان يتعرض إليها الفكر الحر بعامته، في مرحلة تطور الفكر الليبرالي الحر العراقي، في فترة الثلاثينات ولغاية الستينات من القرن الماضي.
ثار محمد شرارة شرارة على النظم المتوارثة في التدريس عندما التحق في المدرسة الدينية في النجف في بداية العشرينات من القرن الماضي، فخلع العمامة بعد أن حصل على شهادة الاجتهاد، لأنه وجد أن لا سبيل إلى إصلاح المدرسة الدينية. كما انتقد بشدّة المناهج وطرق التدريس عندما التحق بالمدارس الثانوية.
وبعد أن اطلع على الأدب الأوروبي الحديث والليبرالي، في الأربعينات، انتقل إلى الرؤية العلمانية المادية. فكتب في مواضيع متعددة، وعالج قضايا كثيرة بجرأة ومن غير تردد، ووقف نصيرا في الدفاع عن حقوق المرأة وحركة السلام والعلمانية.
أصبحت داره في منتصف الأربعينات في تغداد ملتقى الأدباء والشعراء، ودار في هذه اللقاءات الأسبوعية النقد والتحليل والبحث عن إيجاد أسس لتجديد الشعر، وكان من بين الشعراء بدر شاكر السياب ونازك الملائكة ولميعة عباس عمارة وبلند الحيدري وغيرهم.
كان عقلانيا في تفكيره، متسائلا دائما، متحديا السلطة. فحكم عليه بالسجن مرارا، وفصل من وظيفته، وفتشت داره مرات عديدة، أسقطت الجنسية عنه مما أدى به إلى العيش بعيدا عن عائلته لعقد ونصف.
