يوضح لنا هذا الكتاب الأسباب البعيدة التي أدت الى الانتفاضة الثانية والرهانات التي قامت عليها, ويسترجع ما حدث منذ اتفاقات أوسلو التي انعقدت في عام1993, ويبين كيف تجاهل عرابو المفاوضات, وفي مقدمتهم الولايات المتحدة التفاوت الهائل بين الإسرائيليين وبين الفلسطينيين, وكيف ساهمت هذه المسيرة في إقامة نظام الفصل العنصري والاحتلال الراهن. وخلافاً للرأي السائد والتفاؤل السطحي الذين اتسم بهما موقف الغرب تجاه مسيرة السلام هذه, يثبت الكاتب أن مصيرها كان محكوماً عليه بالفشل منذ البداية. فمنذ احتفالات أوسلو وحتى مجزرة حرم المسجد الأقصى في أيلول2000, لم تنتج الاتفاقات السبعة المبرمة بين الطرفين سوى سبع سنوات سمان للإسرائيليين وسبع سنوت عجاف للفلسطينيين. كما يدعو المؤلف الى دراسة الرهانات الديموغرافية والسياسية والأمنية, لاكتشاف السبل التي تتيح التوصل الى حل عادل ودائم للصراع الفلسطيني- الإسرائيلي. ومن أهم ما بحث فيه الكاتب ما يلي: الانتفاضة الثانية: داود ضد جالوت, مليون من الفلسطينيين المنسيين, مأزق المسيرة الدبلوماسية, الولايات المتحدة ومسيرة السلام, اللاجئون الفلسطينيون, القدس, الاستيطان والفصل العنصري.
