في كتابه هذا يقدم "صدوق نور الدين" دراسة نقدية في ثلاثية الياس فركوح تتضمن ثلاثة أعمال أدبية هي: 1- قامات الزبد": الرواية وبلاغة التشظي. 2- "أعمدة الغبار": بين سلطة الذاكرة ودلالات الفقدان. 3- "أرض اليمبوس": بين التمثل الذاتي والتصور الإبداعي.
يقول المؤلف عن عمله هذا: "...لا يتأتى تشكيل تصور نقدي عن ثلاثية الياس فركوح، إلا إنطلاقاً من القراءة الشاملة. فالروائي منذ البدء (قامات الزبد) ألمح إلى أنه بصدد تجربة مفتوحة.. هذه تشترط استكمالاً.. وما يتحكم في الإستكمال: الزمن، وامتدادات الحدث وتحولاته.
من هذا المنطلق تتأسس القراءة الراهنة في محاولة لرسم صورة عن تجربة روائية قوية صيغة ومعنى. إنها تجربة أفق الرواية (...) بيد أن ما يوازي الممارسة، بما هي كتابة وإنجاز التصور النقدي الدال على ثقافة الروائي.. وهي الثقافة التي تفسح ظهورها كآراء وتأملات بشكل مستقل أو بالجنوح إلى للتصريف ضمن المادة الروائية. من هذا المستوى تحضر كتابتان: كتابة الرواية بما هي رواية، وكتابة الذهني باعتباره النظر النقدي إلى الرواية...". لذلك تهدف هذه الدراسة التركيز على ثلاثة أمور هي: وحدة الموضوع، وحدة الصيغة، وحدة المنهج.
وتبقى هذه الثلاثية (قامات الزبد/ أعمدة الغبار/ أرض اليمبوس) بحاجة للمزيد من الوعي النقدي، والموضوعية الجادة في التناول، وتعميق أسئلة النقد الراوئي، وهذا ما أفلح صدوق نور الدين بتناوله ودراسته وفق منهج الوصف –التحليل- التأويل...
