من المعلوم أن القرآن الكريم وحديث الرسول (ص) تحدث عن الإسراء والمعراج كجزء من السيرة النبوية وعليهما يدور محور كل ما ألّفه علماء الإسلام في تخصيصه عليه الصلاة والسلام بخصائص الإسراء والمعراج، وما شاهده أثناءها من الأمور الخارقة التي لم يخص الله بها أحداً من أنبيائه ورسله.
وفي هذا العمل يجمع السيد "محمد بن علوي المالكي الحسني" كل ما كتب عن معجزة الإسراء والمعراج، بما فيها المخطوطات النادرة بغية استلهام مقاصدها وبيان حكمة الله من حدوثها. ونذكر منها: السراج الوهاج في حقائق المعراج، للعلامة "أبي إسحاق محمد بن إبراهيم الشافعي" و "رسالة في المعراج، للعلامة "أبي الحسن علي بن محمد ابن خلية اللخمي" إضافة إلى مجموع رسالات لشيوخ أفاضل مثل الشيخ "عبد الرحمن تاج" شيخ الجامع الأزهر.
وفي هذا العمل يبدأ المؤلف بذكر آيات الإسراء والمعراج في القرآن ويشرحها شرحاً مفصلاً ثم يذكر نصوص الروايات كما جمعها السيوطي، ويعرض لكثير من المسائل المشكلة التي جرى فيها البحث بين العلماء والأخذ والرد والإعتراض والنقد مما كتبه الحافظ الشامي والشيخ نجم الدين الغيطي والسيد البرزنجي وغيرهم من علماء. بعد ذلك يذكر لنا قصة الإسراء والمعراج مرتبة منظمة جمع فيها بين روايتي الشامي والغيطي في سياق واحد، مع التعليق عليها تعليقاً يوضح معانيها ويفسر غريبها، ثم ذكر بعض القصائد والمدائح النبوية التي تكلمت عن هذه المعجزة.
وأخيراً يعرض المؤلف قصة المعراج في رسالة مستقلة، وقد أضاف إليها معراج البرزنجي المسمى "بالسراج الوهاج" ليُقرأ في المجامع والمجالس وليكون في متناول أيدي العامة حفظاً لهم من الكتب المكذوبة والروايات المخالفة للكتاب والسنة، وسماها (الأنوار البهية من إسراء ومعراج خير البرية) كل ذلك في سبيل خدمة دين الله والتأكيد على أن معجزة الإسراء والمعراج حقيقة واقعة لا لبس فيها ...
