ريشار مييه جاء إلى لبنان ليكتب عن لبنانه، لا عن لبنان اللبنانيين، عن لبنان حقيقي عاشه وعاش فيه ردحاً من طفولته ومراهقته، لبنان الستينات والسبعينات، لبنان الذاكرة الذي لم يبق في الوجود، لبنان الطيف الذي ينتهب الآم حياة الكثيرين من اللبنانيين الذين عاشوا وهم الحقيقة اللبنانية لا واقعها المأساوي.
هذه النصوص التي تدور على الأمكنة اللبنانية وعلى بعض الظواهر والمشاهدات والذكريات وعلى بعض الأزمنة التي يتقاطع فيها ضوء الماضي وظلام الحاضر والمستقبل، تبدو كأنها نص واحد، يتقطع كالنفس الحميم الصاعد من جرح في الروح. نص واحد تمتزج فيه السيرة الذاتية والتاريخ الشخصي والتأريخ المشهدي والوصف السافر والهجاء والرثاء... لا أعتقد أنني قرأت نصوصاً عن بيروت ولبنان في هذه الحدّة وهذه الواقعية الحلمية وهذه الموضوعية المتفجرة ذاتياً.
