العلاقة بين الحياة والموت؛ أو الوجود والأنا، تشكل إحدى الموجهات للبنى الوجدانية والشعرية للشاعر حسين ناصوري وتظل مسرحاً للتعبير عن مكنونات الأنا وقلقها وإحساسها الوجودي الأرضي الذي يتسامى في النص عبر مستويات لغوية يصرّح بها الشاعر حيناً ويبطنها حيناً آخر بقيماته الرؤيوية التي تظل عنده أعلى القيمات " ... كنت تجوبُ الرؤيا سراً / والقدرُ، وأنت بلا قدر / مثل الغيمة تنتظران / روحك مرثاة ضاحكةٌ / غارقةٌ في الإثم الطاهر تتهاوى .. / في ذكرى جسدٍ / يحملك فتهواها ندماً ...". وعلى هذا المنوال يظل الضخ الشعري يتزاحم في النص ليستقطب كل ما في الوجود من كائنات حية تجوب في ظل الذات الشاعرة في لحظات تحسسها بالواقع عبر إحداثيات الشعور والوعي الجدلي لرؤيا الشاعر " يا موتُ حلقْ واستعدنا / من حنين الأسر أطفالاً / سؤالاً / واختزلنا في مجازك كالحياة / ما نحن ؟ / من أسماؤنا ؟ / والروحُ إذ تحبو، لماذا ؟ / ربما يا موت كنا قبل أن نحيا / سراباً / بين أزمنة التردد / إنكسارٌ وانتصار ...".
يضم الكتاب ستة وعشرين قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "هذا أنا" ، "صفحة بيضاء" ، "أنا أنت" ، "قتل الماء" ، "قبل المطر" ، "مناجاة" ، "يا نوح" ، "شيءٌ منك" ، " قبل الطفولة" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
