يضم هذا الكتاب تبادل الآراء المكثف في حلقات العمل والمناقشات في الجلسات العامة، التي نظمت بعد كل محاضرة. وبهذا تم قبل كل شيء البلوغ إلى هدفين: أولهما عرض حي قدر الإمكان للمجالات الكبرى من محتويات عالم الدين الإسلامي وقد حدث ذلك في المحاضرات المنتظمة التي عرض فيها المحاضرون مواضيعهم، ثم في التعديلات التي أجروها على نصوصهم نظراً إلى ما سمعوه في حلقات العمل وفي مناقشات الجلسات العامة. وهذا التوصل بين العروض المنتظمة من جهة والتعقيبات العفوية والشروحات الإضافية والتوضيحات التكميلية التي وجهها المحاضرون إلى المشتركين الذين طرحوا أسئلتهم أو التمسوا إيضاحات أوفى، يمكنه أن يكشف للقارئ القناع عما جرى في الدورة هذه. وقد ساهم المحاضرون مساهمة كبيرة في ذلك، وكانوا قد عبروا عن استعدادهم، على قدر المستطاع للاستماع إلى محاضرات زملائهم وللاشتراك في جميع حلقات العمل والجلسات العامة مدة الدورة.
