استعمل المسيحيون والمسلمون، في مجادلاتهم الدينية، من القرن الثامن حتى القرن الثاني عشر ميلادي، مفاهيم فلسفية ولاهوتية، في موضوع الدين الحق، أي الدين والوحي، وفي عقيدتي التثليث والاتحاد المسيحيتين. ومن الطبيعي أن قام كل من الفريقين بتحديد هذه المفاهيم وفاقاً لعقيدته الدينية ونظريته اللاهوتية.
يقتصر هذا البحث على مفهوم الدين والحق، أي مفهوم الدين ومفهوم الوحي الملازمين. ويقتصر أيضاً، في هذا المجال، على عرض النظرة الإسلامية إلى الأديان، المخالفة للدين الحق، وغلى كلام الله الذي عليه قام الدين الحق، وغلى متلقي هذا الكلام نبياً ورسولاً من الله إلى الناس.
ففي نصوص المسلمين، قبل ظهور الإسلام، خالف أهل الكتاب، من يهود ونصارى، ما أتاهم من وحي، لكون اليهود حرفوا توراتهم، وكون النصارى حرفوا إنجيلهم. ومن جهتهم، أخذ عبدة الأصنام بالشرك، أي بعبادة ما اعتقدوا أنها آلهة، كما قاموا بالتشبيه، أي بوصف الله بأوصاف البشر.
إلا أن الله، رحمة منه بالعباد، أرسل غليهم محمداً جعله نبيه ورسوله، وخاتم النبيين والمرسلين، يبلغ الناس كلام الله الذي تلقاه من الملاك جبريل. وكانت رسالته التذكير بالتوحيد الذي أنزل من قبل الناس وسها الناس عنه.
أما الأقوال التي بها ردّ المسلمون أو تكلموا على النصارى في ما خصّ مفهوم الدين والوحي، فمنها ما ورد في المجادلات المسيحية، ومنها ما جاء مستقلاً: قول المسلمين في المجادلات المسيحية: أبو قرة، أنبا أبراهام، أنبا جرجي، طيماثاوس، البصري، أنبا إيليا، أبو رائطة، ابن عدي، ابن زرعة، ابن الطيب.
رد المسلمين: الهاشمي، الطبري، الحسني، الوراق، الجاحظ، ابن المنجم، الطبري، الخياط، الأشعري، ابن أيوب، الباقلاني، عبد الجبار، البغدادي، ابن حزم، الجويني، الغزالي، الزمخشري، الشهرستاني، الخزرجي، ابن رشد، الرازي.
