انطلاقاً من التفاوت في الرؤيا وفي البنية بين الدين والعلم والتحليل النفسي، يأتي كتاب "إشكاليات المجتمع العربي" بشكل أضواء متفاوتة على بعض الإختلافات في الرؤى في المجتمع العربي بغية جعل التعايش ممكناً بدلاً مما هو سائد حيث أن العلم يلغي الدين أو العكس عن طريق العنف.
ما يميز هذا الكتاب أنه جاء في شكل حواري يجعل القارئ يساهم في انتقاء المواضيع حسب توارد الأفكار عن اهتمامات بالمسائل العالقة في المجتمعلا الحاضر، وقسم آخر من الكتاب كناية عن دراسات تطال مواضيع محددة عولجت من زاوية التحليل النفسي لأنه لا يستطيع أن يقول لأي ناطق: قلت كذا وكذا. فهذا الإنقسام في الخطاب يستدعي التأويل والمخرج للإتصال بالآخر، فإذا كان مغلقاً يؤدي حتماً إلى إلغاء الآخر. من هنا بدأ هذا الكتاب مدخلاً إلى الخارج أو الآخر المختلف في النظرة والتحليل والمعالجة من حيث ارتباط الذات بالتراث الديني والسياسي والإجتماعي .
يعتبر مؤلفا الكتاب أن "التحليل النفسي كما نعرف ليس ضد الدين شرط أن لا يكون منغلقاً، وهذا هو حال الإسلام في العصور الذهبية. ولكن على ما يظهر أن رجال الدين أصبحوا قوة نرجسية وسلطوية، يقفلون الباب على كل من يريد أن ينتقص من نفوذهم فاستقطبوا حق التأويل والعلم الإلهي، ووضعوا حداً لأي معرفة للاوعي. لأن اللاوعي هو من العلم الإلهي، ولا يحقَ إلا للضليعين في العلم الديني أن يدخلوه –فلذلك وفق التحليل النفسي على باب الفكر ينتظر أن يسمح له بالدخول".
