لاحظ المؤلف أن عدداً كبيراً من صغار المستثمرين يقدمون على الاستثمار في الأسهم والسندات وصناديق الاستثمار دون توفر الخبرة اللازمة لديهم، وكذلك عدم توفر كتب باللغة العربية توضح للمستثمر الفرد مخاطر الاستثمار في الأسواق المالية، وأنجح السبل لحماية وتنمية رأس المال، لذا قام بوضع هذا الكتاب، الذي هو الجزء الثاني من سلسلة الاستثمار المالي الحديث.
يعرف الفصل الأول القارئ بصناديق الاستثمار المشتركة، أنواعها المختلفة، وإمكانية تصنيفها إلى فئات رئيسية وأخرى فرعية.
أما الفصل الثاني، فيدور حول أهم فئة من فئات صناديق الاستثمار المشتركة، ألا وهي صناديق الاستثمار في الأسهم. يشرح الفصل الثالث فئة أخرى منها، هي صناديق الاستثمار في مختلف أنواع السندات. في حين يعالج الفصل الرابع صناديق الاستثمار ذات السيولة العالية، التي يطلق عليها اسم ’’صناديق أسواق المال’‘، والتي انتشرت بشكل هائل في الآونة الأخيرة، واستقطبت جزءاً لا بأس به من أموال المستثمرين في العالم.
هناك صناديق استثمار مشتركة تتخصص بنوع ضيق من الاستثمار، كالاستثمار في المعادن الثمينة، أو في قطاع اقتصادي محدد، كقطاع شركات السيارات وتوابعها، وقد خصص الفصل الخامس لمعالجتها.
أما الفصل السادس من هذا الكتاب، فيدور حول النشرات، ومختلف أنواع التقارير التي يتوجب على كل صندوق استثمار مشترك تزويد مستثمريه بها، كالتقارير المالية، ربع الشهرية والسنوية وغيرها.
يختتم الفصل السابع الكتاب بشرح سهل لكيفية اختيار صندوق استثمار مشترك مناسب، وذلك لمساعدة المستثمرين، وخاصة الذين لا يتمتعون بالخبرة السابقة، لانتقاء صندوق استثمار يتمشى مع متطلباتهم وظروفهم.
وبما أن البورصات تستخدم تعابير فنية خاصة باللغة الإنكليزية، لذا تمّ إضافة هذه التعابير للنص، لتعريف القارئ الكريم بها، ولتمكينه من فهم أي تقرير قد يتلقاه من أي صندوق استثمار مشترك.
