الشعر نداء الأرواح الحائرة وزفرة حرى تنفثها نفوسهم المعذبة فتتجسد كلمات وقوافي تطفئ النار المتوقدة في أجساد الشعراء وهمس القوافي قبس مما اعتمل في خيال الشاعر فعصف به وأراده صريع شوق لماضٍ كان يحياه طفلاً. والذي يقرأ سيرة الشاعر يعرف حجم الأمم والمعاناة التي يكابدها أصحاب النفوس النقية وهو هنا ينثر على صفحات هذا الديوان آهاته وعذاباته شاعر ولد في أحضان الطبيعة فرعته الأزهر وحمته الأشواك فأهدى قصائده غلى كل من تعرى من السعادة الكاذبة والتف بالشقاء الأبدي... لكل من أراد الوصول فأنف الخداع فأخفق. ينطوي الديوان على ستة أقسام: القسم الأول ضمنه قصائد الوجدانيات وخص الغزليات بالقسم الثاني وجمع المتفرقات في القسم الثالث. أما قصائده في تبيان سلطة فقد ضمها القسم الرابع، وأفرد القسم الخامس الصدى الماضي في حين أوقف القسم الأخير للقصائد الوطنية.
