لقد كانت استجابة النظام العربي العام لأول قمة إسرائيلية-عربية (لقاء القدس عام 1977)، استجابة عاصفة حركت الضمير العربي وأيضاً الواقع العربي. وكانت استجابة هذا النظام تجاه اتفاق أيار/مايو 1983 قادرة ليس على تجميده فقط، بل وإسقاطه، بينما جاءت هذه الاستجابة حيال لقاء يفران عام 1986 فاترة ومتراخية إلى حد كبير والأخطر منها هو رد الفعل الشعبي إزاء هذا الحدث. فهل سرى الاعتياد في دماء الشعب العربي؟ وهل وهنت مقاومته، أم أن روح الفداء المذهلة التي فجرت مقار القيادة الإسرائيلية وحلفائها في بيروت وصور هي علامات الطريق القادم؟ بل ما هي دلالة دخول الدم لأول مرة في مقاومة التطبيع في مصر خلال العامين الأخيرين؟ وفي محاولة للإجابة عن هذه التساؤلات، تأتي هذه الدراسة التي تطمح، بالإضافة إلى ذلك إلى رسم "خريطة الخطر الجديد" لاستراتيجية التطبيع وآفاقه، وأن تزن آليات العمل التي تخدم هذه الاستراتيجية، وأن ترصد ملامح المواجهة القائمة، والقادمة. وقد تم تقسيم الدراسة إلى ثلاثة فصول رئيسية: يتعرض الأول لملامح المشروع الإسرائيلي تجاه المنطقة، ويتناول الثاني تضاريس خريطة لتطبيع العريضة، أما الفصل الثالث فميدانه المواجهة الواقع والمستقبل.
