الرواية، قصة امرئ اختط طريقاً فصدم، فتألم وندم وقعد عن العمل حيناً حتى أيقن أن القعود لا يجدي ولا يغير من الأمر شيئاً، والخير كل الخير في العمل والجد وتحمل المشاق والسعي من أجل هدف صعب المنال، ورمز إلى الهدف "جبلاً" بعيداً عن طريقه الصعوبات من كل نوع: الجوع والعطش، وفقدان المعين، والصخور والوديان، والوحوش والغيلان... وكل ما يرعب ويخيف؛ ولكن لا بد من السير وبلوغ الهدف: "طريق الغير قد اختطه الغير، وليس من يريد سبل الإبداع أن يقتفي أثر الغير؛ أن الذي يريد التألق في طريق الإنتصار عليه أن يكتشف طريقه وحده".
وهكذا عمل "البطل" وجدَّ وثابر وصبر وصابر خلال سبعة أيام بلياليها ويافاتها وألامها... ولكنه - على الرغم من ذلك - وصل ومن رسم هدفاً، طرح الكسل والتردد جانباً ومضى قدماً، ويكفيه السير فخراً وشرفاً فـ"الوصول إلى الهدف غاية" وإذا ما وصلت إلى غايتك فالموت بعدها لا يعني عندك أي شيء... فليس الوصول كل شيء، بل السعي أول... وليكن بعد ذلك ما يكون.
وهكذا جاءت القصة - الرواية - الحكاية - الأسطورة رائعة مبدعة على غير سابق مثال، لم تقلد غيرها وابتكرت عالمها: لغة وهي سليمة فصيحة تريك مزج التراث بالمعاصرة كأحسن ما يكون وبدون تكلف؛ وهي شعرية في مفرداتها وتركيباتها وتنقلها في الضمائر، وفي الصور، من دون أن تدخل في الميوعة، وقد خرجت منها موفقة خروجها من دائرة الجفاف.
