وبينما كانت ندى مُستسرسلةً في أفكارِها، فاجأها والدُها بقوله: لقد استلمتُ اليومَ من المطبعةِ كتابي الجديد «ظواهر التزامن بين الأساطير والعلم». كانت هذه هي المرة الأولى التي يُخبرها بها والدها بخبر كتابه هذا. سألتْهُ ندى عن فحوى الكتاب، فأخبرها بأنه دراسةٌ أكاديمية، تابعت ظواهر التزامن، منذ أن انتبهَ لها الإنسانُ، وحتى عصرنا هذا. وهنا؛ سألتْهُ ندى عن معنى ظواهر التزامن هذه، التي ألَّف كتاباً عنها. قال لها والدُها: إن ظواهرَ التزامن تضمُّ طائفةً واسعة من الظواهر ذات الصلة بما يحدث بتصاحبِ أو تعاقبِ حدوثِ أحداثٍ، يجمع بينها قاسمٌ مشترك، قد يكونُ - أحياناً - مفردةً واحدةً، وفقد يكونُ - أحياناً أخرى - مفرداتٍ عدة. وهنا؛ انتبهت ندى إلى أنَّ ما يحدث لها مع «جان دارك» قد يكون واحدةً من ظواهر التزامن هذه. لذا؛ عَنَّ لها أن تبادرَ إلى سؤالِ والدِها عن ذلك. قال لها والدُها: إنَّ هذا لَهُو مثالٌ بالغ القوة، يُبيِّن المدى الذي قد تذهب إليه ظواهرُ التزامن في تعبيرها عن وجودِها. على أي حالٍ؛ لم تكن ندى لتعلم ما كان القدرُ يُخبِّئه لها صباحَ اليومَ التالي، عندما ذهبت مع باقي فتياتِ فصلها الدراسي في رحلةٍ مدرسية إلى متحف التراث الشعبي!
