ومِنْ قبلِ أنْ يَتوادَعا تواعَدا على أنْ يلتقيا في شارعِ المكتبةِ الوطنيةِ قُبالةَ مكتبِ البريدِ الآليِّ قبلَ حُلولِ المساءِ بِساعةٍ، وذلكَ لِتَصْحَبَهُ إلى مكانٍ آمِنٍ، ينبغي عليهِ أنْ يَمكُثَ فيهِ، حتى تَحُلَّ الحربُ أوزارَها. أخذَ رائدُ يفكرُ في هذا الذي سَمِعَهُ قبلَ قليلٍ، وفي الذي يتوجَّبُ عَلَيهِ القيامُ بهِ. راودَتْهُ أفكارٌ شتَّى، وهو يتدبَّرُ - ملياً - في ما قالَتْهُ لهُ ناديا. ولقد هالَهُ أنْ يكونَ قد عَلِمَ بهذا الأمرِ، ولا يَقومُ بِما مِنْ شأنِهِ إنقاذَ وطنِهِ من دمارٍ شاملٍ قريبٍ. وبعد أن أطرقَ مُفكِّراً في هذا الذي يتوجَّبُ عليهِ القيامُ بِهِ، استقرَّ منهُ الرأيُ على أنْ يفاتِحَ والدَهُ الدكتور حسن عبد الله بالأمرِ، لِينظُرَ ماذا يرى. والدكتور حسن عبد الله واحدٌ من ألمعِ علماءِ وطنِهِ، وهو حُجَّةٌ في علمِ الكيمياءِ الصناعيةِ قَلَّ أنْ يُوجَدَ لهُ مُضارعٌ أو منافسٌ. عادَ رائدُ إلى أرضِ الوطنِ وسارعَ إلى الاتصالِ بوالدِهِ فوجدَهُ عندَ بيتِ صديقٍ لَهُ هو الدكتور جعفر ابراهيم أحدُ ألمعِ المختصين بفيزياءِ الانتقالِ عِبْرَ الزمنِ.
