"ظمآن... أسأل عن كأسي وعن أملي، وعن إلهي.. عن عينيك.. وعن عينيك.. عن قدري.. عن خالق في العيون السود أشعلني يوماً، ولم ينطفئ في ليلها عمري .. عينان ليلهما لا ينتهي أبداً، يراقص الحب فيه نجمة السحر.. سمعت لما تلاقت أعة يني بهما، صوتي يناديهما من مطلع العصر. يا قصة في مدى عينيك تكتبني إلام يصرخ في أمدائها سفري؟! يدوخ قلبي عشقاً كلما التفتت والخصر يشعل بي دنيا من الصور، حسن تحدي ضياء الشمس مزدهياً، يوزع الحب مثل الضوء والمطر، تلهو بنظرتها الأيام ضاحكة فالعمر في ليلها للحب والسحر... جاءت تراودني، والشوق جللها بأكرم الحب تحيى مطلع القمر، تقول هدهد سناها فالربى اشتعلت أمام برقك فاختطف لذة الشرر، صبية من حكايا الحب قادمة بنار جناحها قد أشعلت سهري، وقفت اقرأ مذهولاً أنوثتها والصمت يغرقني في روعة السور، كما الصلاة خشوع الحب سمرني والحسن ينقر كالعصور من نظري".
في بحر عيني حبيبته يتجول الشاعر، قارئاً فيها قصصاً غامضة لم يقرأها غيره من الرجال الذين مروا بحياتها، وبإحساس مرهف حول هذه الخيالات إلى كلمات وصور شعرية نابضة بالحب والشوق إلى عينيها المشعتان بالأنوثة المغرية الآسرة لقلوب الرجال.
