يكثر ذكر الحرية في هذا العصر أكثر من أي عصر مضي, والكل يتحدث عن الحرية منظوراً إليها من حيث أهتمامات كل متحدث ومصالحه.
فنجد من يتحدث عن الحرية السياسية وعن حرية الضمير وحرية الشعوب وحرية المرأة وحرية العقيدة, والحرية الجامعية, والحرية الشخصية, ... إلي آخر أنواع وألوان الحريات, ومنذ القدم والإنسان يحارب ويناضل ويدفع الغالي والنفيس في سبيل الحرية, وفي أحيان كثيرة قد يدفع حياته ثمناً لها...
وأصبحت الحرية هي هم كل الشعوب بمختلف أجناسهم ودياناتهم وقامت المسيرات والثورات والحروب, وسالت الدماء في كل مكان من أجل الحرية, وأصبحت كلمة الحرية تعني الحياة والأمل والسعادة.
والحرية ليست علم يدرس أو مهارة تكتسب إنها نزعة وحاجة إنسانية وهي كالطعام والشراب.
فأنت لابد أن تكون حراً لكي تعيش إنساناً لا حيواناً تقاد حيث يشاء الآخرون.. وكما أنك تبحث عن الطعام والشراب فالحرية كذلك يجب أن تبحث عنها وتسعي لتحصيلها.
والحرية ليست حكراً علي فئة معينة, بل هي لكافة الناس, الكل من حقه أن يعيش حراً؛ لقد ولدنا أحراراً فلما نستعبد بعضنا بعض؟
