كتاب الخصال ككل كتب الشيخ الصدوق هو محل اهتمام المحدّثين وعلماء الشيعة، وروايات الكتاب مبثوثة في كتب ومجاميع الحديث؛ كالكتب الأربعة ووسائل الشيعة وبحار الأنوار.
وأضحى نقل الروايات عن الخصال رافعاً لمكانة كتب المتأخرين.
من خصائص الكتاب
لم يُصنَّف مِن قبل كتابٌ يشتمل على الأعداد والخصال ضمن الكتب الروائيّة.
أصبح موضعَ طلب الكثير مِمّن يبحثون في أسرار الأعداد؛ كالسبعة، والأربعين مثلاً.
محتويات الكتاب
تتنوّع مواضيع الخصال، من تبيان لأحكام الحلال والحرام والمسائل الأخلاقية، إلى غيرها مما يحتاجه الفقيه والأديب والمؤرخ والمفسر والواعظ. وهو مشتمل على ألفٍ ومئتين وخمسة وخمسين حديثاً(1255).
عناوين الفصول
بدأ الشيخُ الكتابَ بباب "الواحد". وعند وصوله إلى الرقم "أربعمئة"، كان عنوان الباب: عَلّم أميرُ المؤمنين عليه السّلام أصحابَه في مجلسٍ واحدٍ أربعَمئةِ بابٍ مِمّا يصلح للمسلم في دينه ودُنياه. وقد استغرق 27 صفحة، في حديثٍ اشتمل على علومٍ في قضايا كثيرة وشؤون متنوّعة.
أعقبَ ذلك رواياتٌ فيها أعدادٌ ما بعدَ الألف، لينتهيَ الكتاب إلى الصفحة 652 وقد حوى آلافاً من الروايات الشريفة المُفسِّرة لآيات الكتاب العزيز، والمبيّنة لأحاديث رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وآله وسُننهِ الشريفة، والمُدْرِجةِ لمئات المسائل الفقهيّة والاجتماعيّة والطبّية والأخلاقيّة والعلميّة والعقائديّة.. وغير ذلك. وتم توزيع كتاب الخصال عل ستةٍ وعشرين (26) باباً، وعُنوِنت بحسب الأرقام .
