هذه الرواية، بشحناتها الدراميّة وبأحداثها وشخصيّاتها المتنامية الّتي تعكس الصراعات الإنسانيّة، ترتكز على ثنائيّة جدليّة قوامها المار والنار، وهما في ضدّيتهما وخواصّهما المتناقضة المتعدّدة قطبان كبيران تتوالد منهما كلّ القيم، كلاهما حميميّ وكونيّ يثير الدهشة والإعجاب، ويفضي إلى البوح والتعبير عن الهواجس والإنكسارات.
"ماء ونار"، إنّهما مرآة لخفايا الأنا وعذاباتها وخيباتها وماضيها وحاضرها، وإنّ لهما قدسيّتهما التي ترمز إلى تطهير الأرواح قبل الأجساد، وتعيد تركيب الذوات المتشظّية.
"أرواح مشوّشة" حكاية عشق إستثنائية تجمع بين "سعد" الشاعر الثريّ المرهف الحسّ، المولع بإضرام النار، والذي يجد فيها متعته الروحيّة، و"سما سلطان" الفنّانة التشكيليّة الملقبة بأيقونة الماء، التي تعود جذور أبيها، الّذي يعمل بالسلك الدبلوماسيّ، إلى ولاية نخل، والتي استلهمت من وادي الأبيض وألعاب الطفولة وحكايات الماء أيقونتها، ونذرت للماء ريشتها وخيالاتها.
ضدّيّة آسرة تجمع بين الإثنين، وتغوص في غياهب اللاوعي واللامرئيّ في ذاكرتهما وخيالاتهما المشبوبة، عبر سلسلة من الصراعات والمفاجآت الصادمة والأحداث الشائقة.
"أرواح مشوّشة" هي الرواية الرابعة للدكتورة زوينة الكلباني، فلقد صدر لها عن المؤسسة العربية للدراسات والنشر روايتان، هما: ثالوث وتعويذة"، "وفي كهف الجنون تبدأ الحكاية"، كما صدر لها عن دار الغشام للنشر والترجمة رواية "الجوهرة والقبطان".
