الكتاب الذي اعتبره الأستاذ محمود أبو حامد، في (المقدمة) التي تصدّرت العمل اسماً على مسمى ولهذا يقول: ربما كتاب "في مديح الذاكرة" يضيف على مسماه بعداً جديداً حين يدرك القارئ تلك الخيوط التي تربط مقالات عائشة بعضها ببعض من حيث الأسلوب والسرد والافكار والمرجعيات والعاطفة واللغة، والأهم خصوصية العلاقة مع القارئ الذي تركت في ذاكرته تحولاتها الطبيعية؟".
وفي الكتاب، تهتم عائشة سلطان في مقالاتها بهموم وشجون الناس وتتواصل معهم، تقدس الوطن وتحترم الولاء لهويته... تواكب بحيادية الأجواء السياسية العامة، والأوضاع الإجتماعية السائدة... والنبي الذهنية الفاعلة... وتفرد الكثير من المقالات لأدب الرحلة ووصف المدن... تؤصِّل للذاكرة الشفوية والأمكنة والأزمنة التي كانت... وتلامس الذات البشرية بأسئلة مفيدة عن العلاقات والصداقات والتطلعات وهكذا تمنح الكاتبة لكل مقال سرديته وموضوعه ومفرداته الخاصة.
من عوالم الكاتبة عائشة سلطان تقرأ: "الطريق المستقيم يحتاج إلى قلب جريء ومنفتح وشجاع لا يخشى التوغل في الأراضي المنفتحة مهما كانت وعورتها، الطرق المتعرجة ليست سوى محاولة لمجاملة مصاعب الطريق، مع ذلك فهي لا تقودك إلى هدفك في الوقت المحدد، لذا فإن أقرب مسافة بين نقطتين هو الخط المستقيم إيمان منطقي تحتاج إليه في لحظات التغيير الحاسمة خاصة حين يحتاج هذا التغيير إلى إيمان حقيقي بفكرة عظيمة!...".
