على الرغم من تركيز عائشة سلطان على فن المقالة في "شتاء الحكايات" إلاَّ أنها تكشف عن سيرة ذاتية وعن علاقة عميقة بالحياة، ومن ثم فهي ليست بعيدة عن الإرتباط بالآخرين بدءاً من عالم الطفولة، والعشق للمطر، وحنان الأم وحنو البيت القديم، ونداء الحياة بكل روعتها، إلى جمال الطبيعة والعلاقة مع الناس هذا التداخل يجعل من شتاء الحكايات بين (السيرة الذاتية، والمذكرات واليوميات).
ويمكن تعليل هذا بأن العمل هو عبارة عن تقديم حقائق حياة فردية وجماعية من خلال مقياس إبداعي تمظهر في خطاب أدبي، وربما هو شكل من أشكال كتابة الحياة التي تشكل هوية خاصة لكاتبتها...
تقول الكاتبة: "الشتاء ليس سوى حكاية في قلوبنا جميعاً، كلُّ يحكيها بطريقته، بلون ذاكرته، بطعم طفولته وحكايات أمه وجدته، الشتاء ذاكرة بحدّ ذاته وذاكرة الشتاء حكاية مختلفة، منفصلة ومنجدلة في الوقت نفسه مع حكايات كثيرة في حياتنا، قد تبدو كئيبة أحياناً، ودافئة أحياناً أخرى، ملونة وضاجّة، حميمة وممتلئة بالحنين، بعيدة تذكّر بالشوق وتثير الإشتياق، ولكن في كل أحوالها فإن ذاكرة الشتاء تبقى ذاكرة طفولية، وبريئة...".
هكذا تستدرج الكاتبة القارئ لتروي له حكايتها مع الشتاء، مع القراءة، والإبداع "الشتاء ذاكرة قراءة بلا شك، فكلنا قرأ بمتعة أجمل كتبه في الشتاء..."، ربما نكون قرأنا العديد من الحكايات المشابهة، ولكن لحكايات عائشة سلطان نكهة مغايرة، وعمق في الطرح، وأيديولوجيا بناءة، تنطلق من الواقع وتعيد صياغته، تكشف عن طبيعة القيم وتجليها في مفاصل الحياة اليومية للناس، فتبدو الكتابة معها نموذجاً كاشفاً عن طبيعة هذه القيم والمجتمع والنسق الثقافي الذي يدور فيه الافراد فاعلين ومنفعلين، ومن هنا يمكن طرح دور الكاتب في تغيير الواقع...
