ذات يوم، يا صديقي، عندما تكبر، ستعلم أن كل إنسان قادر على القتل. فهذا من طبيعة الإنسان بالذات. عبثاً يقال إن الإنسان حيوان ناطق، أو حيوان ضاحك، أو حيوان عاقل... وآسفاه، هذا كله صحيح! لكنه لا يمثل الحقيقة، كلها. فما ينسى أن يضاف هو أن الإنسان الآخرين، نظراءه. وتعرف لماذا؟ لأنه إنسان ولأن الطبيعة شاءت أن يكون الإنسان هكذا... الطبيعة، أو فلنقل الله. فلربما شاء الله، لسبب نجهله، أن تنصب إبادتهم... أتعلم ما الفرق بين إنسان وحيوان؟
هذا الطفل سيكون محور الرواية التي تؤرخ للاغتراب اللبناني في أفريقيا، في الزمن الذي كانت فيه بيروت وجبل لبنان تحت جور وحكم جمال باشا السفاح...
لم تقارب بعد قصة الاغتراب كما هي في هذه الرواية.
