في هذا الكتاب ديوان ممتع للشاعر المعروف الذي يفيض شفافية وصدقاً، صاحب الكلمة الشعرية الحلوة أكانت فصحى أم عامية، والتي تخرج صافية ومصفّاة من كل زوائد وشوائب، لتعبّر عن معاني مغزولة بنول خاص، ولترسم بحرفية راقية صوراً متخيلة تليق بالوجدان المتقّد، وبالأعماق الحارة التي كلما غاص فيها الشاعر كلما ارتفعت مكانته وعلا مكانه: "إصعد، عصيّاً، قمةً جَارَاكَ فيها/الريح جُنّت،/والزمان/واسكن بها./لا يسكن القمة إلا السنديان".
عمق الإيجاز وقوة البساطة في التعبير لدى الشاعر، تحيلان المعنى صرحاً منيعاً لا يخترق، يفرض وجوده المتين بلا تأرجح، وبجمالية صارخة لا حاجة بها إلى تلاوين زائفة: "كم ذكّرتني بأبي تلك البتُولا الواقفة في العاصفة".
جمل مُحكمة التركيب تخرج برداء شعري لا همّ في إثبات وجوده أو تحديد نوعه أو هويته: "زودتني أمي/بخبز سنابلها،/وأبي/بعصا قطيعه./ومن/لون رجلي الليلكي،/ وجراحهما،/تعرفين كم/سرتُ إليكِ". يوضّب الشاعر قصائده في ثلاثة عناوين: "عربتي الخضراء حصانها أزرق"، و "كتاب البحيرة"، و"دواة السنونو". مواضيع متعددة يطالها الديوان، ويحتفي بها، ويبرزها ويحييها: تكمن المرارة في أن"..العالم ليس بأكثر ممن يبحر/كل مساء/كالورق السابح/في الماء/مسكوناً بنداء الغامض في الكون/وروح الشعراء./كم/ يُحزنني هذا العالم." حزن رافق وجود الشاعر على الأرض وسببه: "..قد عشتُ مغلوباً بفكرة أنني آت/إليها كي/أُودعها". "..يا/للشتاء/كم يشبه/موت الشعراء/قبل نشر/دواوينهم!" إذا "مدّ يديك وغامر/فالحائر/ليس/بطائر" و"قال/الشراع:/أجمل ما فيك إذا أبحرت/في الريح/الضياع". والـ"قفص/مفتوح/الباب/لديه/تفسيران/مختلفان:/إما ليغادره العصفور،/ وإما/ليعود/ إليه." و"إن كُنتَ مصابيح/أعمق من يَكتُبُ عمّا في روحكَ/من شَعَلِ/قلمُ/الريح." وللتنويع فقط: "إنهض بجرحك، لا تكن حجراً،/لكن تصور أنك الحجر."
