هذه "صرخة" مها القصراوي في عالم الصمت المريب، عالم عنفه صمت، وصخبه صمت، وتواطؤه صمت، والحركة الموارة فيه صمت. في هذا العالم يتواطأ الزمن مع العتمة على قتل الحياة، فلا نرى إلا ناساً يعيشون المنافي، فبطل القصة يولد في المنفى، حيث يعيش تجربة اليتم منذ أن رحل والده في شرخ الشباب وتركه يعاني الخيبات القاسية. ولقد استثمرت مها معارفها النقدية في بناء رواية تستجيب للتحولات السردية المختلفة مخلصة لرؤيتها التي ترفض أن تستحيل الرواية إلى لعبة شكلية.
إن خيباته لم تذهب سدى، فقد رشحه سجنه في مقتبل الحياة، وعذابه الذي وسم الفكر والروح والوجدان، ورؤيته المنصهرة بالتجربة للحياة، لأن يدق جدران الخزان، ولا يكون رجلاً في الشمس. لقد حطم الساعة التي لا تفتأ تدق دقات رتيبة، تلك التي جوهرها سيل من الزمن الوجودي الذي لا يحدد ولا يميز، واستبدل بها ساعة أمه التي تشير إلى زمن داخلي تاريخي يوجهه إلى رؤية الحقيقة الساطعة، حيث يتحقق الفعل في زمن الفعل.
"صرخة" مها القصراوي صرخة مسكونة بهم وطن وهم أمة، صرخة تشفي على اليأس في زمن التخاذل، والعهر، والانكفاء، واستبدال الهم الفردي بهم الجماعة الغائبة، بعد تكالب الهزائم والخيبات، ولكن صرختها أخيراً ليست "صرخة في واد"، ويأسها ليس اليأس من الجماد، بل هو يأس يشير إلى نور يسطع في الظلام.
