يقدم هذا الكتاب الجماعي حفراً معرفياً لمصطلح الأنسنة humanistas يفضي بنا إلى تجلي ماهية الإنسان المتمثلة في الصفات التي يتميز بها النوع الإنساني، وهو في الوقت نفسه فرع معرفي يسعى إلى تخطي العصر الوسيط من خلال خلق قطيعة معرفية مع المركزية اللاهوتية وسردياتها الكبرى المتمثلة في الأدب المقدس والفلسفة واللاهوت والفنون المسيحية؛ لكن المشروع الإنسي جاء بتصور بديل يقوم على رهانات مختلفة تتمثل في رهان الإنسان وحقوقه، الأمر الذي جعلَنا بين خطابين: الأول ينطلق من الفكرة الشمولية التي تجد تسويغها في الدين وخطابه اللاهوتي المنطلق من النص والقراءات الحافة به كما تمثله في العصر الوسيط وبين الخطاب الإنسي الذي يشكل تحوّلاً جديداً ينطلق من يوتوبيا جديدة تقوم في أول الأمر بالتحرر.
كما جاءت به لحظة النهضة حيث تمثلت في التحرر من الخطاب الكنسي اللاهوتي الذي يتمركز حول الدين (النص) إلى الإنسان والدولة العلمانية كما تجلت في عصر النهضة ومرجعيتها العقلية.
أما اللحظة الثانية فقد تمثلت في القرن التاسع عشر حيث خطاب النظام بإعتباره مطلب الحداثة ومطلبها الأنسي المتمثل بالنظام والتحول العقلاني.
وبين اللحظتين تطورت المطالب الإنسية في الديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان وهي رهانات تمظهرت بمفهوم الأنسنة والأدب الكلاسيكي الذي يتخذ من الإنسان موضوعاً مركزيّاً.
أما محاولات العالم العربي فقد حاول هذا العالم أن يؤصل لهذا المفهوم من خلال التبيئة أو التأصيل لهذا المفهوم أو الممارسة الخطابية أو الإجتماعية، إذ ظهر هناك تيارات تحاول أن تؤصّل للنزعة الإنسانية في التراث الإسلامي.
