فكان لا بد من الخوض في علم أو منهج الجيوبوليتكا، وإيضاح أنه يسعى إلى تحليل الأفكار والتصورات "الأرضانية" أي الخاصة بالأراضي المتنازع عليها، مع الإحاطة بالمكونات الجغرافية لهذه الأراضي، وذلك بهدف تحديد محتوى وحجم النزاع، استشراف مناحيه، المساهمة في إيجاد الحلول له.
