ينفتح النص الشعري عند الشاعرة آمنة المحب في "على شواطئ الأيام" على أطراف الذكريات المتآكلة، والأيام الماضية، بأسلوب يتسم بالسرد المكثف وتآلف الألفاظ؛ وعبر مشاهد تستعيد الشاعرة من خلالها آفاقٌ زمنية ومكانية تتداعى صورها بشكل كثيف من خلال الإشارة اللفظية والمعاني العميقة للأنا لنقل المعنى من خطيته إلى واقعيته. "قلمي يطل من يدي/ يشدني إلى وريقة أمامي/ وصوت في عمق أعماقي/ يدعوني لأرسم حروفه.../ دنياي ضجيج موتى/ يصرون على أنهم أحياء.../ وقلبي، قلبي الذي اعتصرته الشفقة/ ومزقه الألم/ يحب لدمائه أن تسيل.../ أن ترسم آهات وابتسامات/ لتكون دماً لقلب جديد،/ هو الصفحات والوريقات...".
وللشاعرة آمنة المحب طقوسها الخاصة في التقاط كلماتها وعباراتها وتدوينها؛ وكأنها بهذه الآلية تحاول شفاء ذاتها والآخرين بالشعر، فنراها تتحرك في النص كالشلال الهادر محولة القارئ إلى مشهدية بانورامية تنقله من واحة إلى أخرى، محركة أسرار الحياة الساكنة بقلمها كي تنسج حركة لا يمكن إيقافها؛ ولعلها أرادت أن تسهم في تغيير هذا العالم القاتم إلى آخر أجمل. فلنستمع إليها في قصيدة "نحن والزمن"، وهي تقول:
"نحث الخطى نحثها../ لا سأم ولا ملل/ وكأن مجهولاً ينادينا.../ نتعثر هنا وهناك/ لكننا نتابع المسير/ ونحث الخطى من جديد.../ في دربنا أشواك.../ وفيها أيضاً أزاهير.../ نقاوم هذه ونلهو بتلك.../ ونعود لنسابق الزمن/ نسابق الأيام، نغافلها/ نخال أننا/ نحن نمسك بزمامها/ وإذا بها ترمقنا/ من بعيد وعن قريب/ تحصي أنفاسنا/ تعد خطواتنا/ تسد طريقاً كدنا نسلكه/ وتفتح لنا آخر/ (...)".
يضم الكتاب ثلاثة وعشرون قصيدة نثرية وخواطر شعرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "قلمي"، "خيط"، "وحدك حبيبتي"، "بحر"، "عيناكِ"، "دعني أحبك"، "شوق"، "انتظرني"، "ليل"، "تلك العصافير"، "عمر مضى"، (...) وعناوين أخرى.
